What a story. And you know, it reminds me of an experience I had recently with someone I thought of as a friend and they quickly became...just a professional colleague without me knowing why. Instead of fighting it, or trying to rekindle what I thought was a friendship, I finally reached acceptance. And man oh man has there been relationships in the past I wish I had accepted the loss of MUCH sooner rather than fighting to save it.

Steph, this was such a powerful read.

“History is not the same as friendship” really stayed with me. I think many of us hold onto relationships because of how long they’ve existed, not because they’re still healthy or aligned.

What I appreciated most was the honesty and grace in your reflection. There was sadness, but also so much wisdom. Thank you for sharing such an important reminder that true friendship is about being seen, supported, and allowed to grow.
